Elysium - Movie Review & My Thoughts (PrO_RaZe Reviews)
CONTAINS SPOILERS
Today I decided to watch a movie after a long time on my phone, and so I picked Elysium because I wanted to watch a science fiction movie. Elysium is basically the name of a space station in this movie which is the new world for the wealthy class of people living their best life with immortality and the best benefits and care possible. The movie is set in the year 2154 where Earth is too populated and polluted. Almost the entire population living there is of poor class or middle class breathing terrible air with just poor everything. There are advanced robots who replaced police men and military too. Our main character is named Max who since childhood wanted to visit and live at the Elysium.
His friend Frey was his best friend since he was little and they would share stories of going up there one day. Max liked Frey. Max grew up to be a person with multiple felonies. Personally I liked the movie, it wasn't the best movie I have watched but it was good enough. The plot wasn't complicated or too broad but quite simple. Max wanted to go to Elysium to get himself healed but instead he served his life's purpose and made everyone the citizen of Elysium and now everyone had access to the super advanced medical facilities that can do wonders. He brought equality to the people. In this movie I felt the poverty of the future, when technology advances a lot but is limited in usage of the wealthy.
Kind of got Wall-E vibes looking at the super polluted buildings and just garbage everywhere. This movie had a potential love story but it didn't happen and that's great you don't need love in every damn movie. Looking at Elysium and how they had created a new world in space was awesome and how advance can medical facilities get in the future, that there is a cure for every possible disease and you can extend your life as much as you can. Even if your entire body gets crushed or cut but your brain is kinda working you can regenerate every cell and organ into perfect condition. Endless possibilities here. It was really bad that before Max did his work, it was in reach to Elysium citizens only. They could give access to such technology to everyone living at Earth but they did not. A future like this is of no use. We progress only if everyone progresses too. Got a feel of advanced military weapons too of the future and how weapons can work.
The antagonist Agent Kruger was pretty awesome to be honest, liked his character. Also got a view of downloading organic information from someone's brain and transferring it into someone else. Overall I enjoyed the movie, and I want to live long enough to witness humanity progressing more and more settling in space and on other planets. The future is exciting. If I have to rate this movie I will give it a 7/10. I am not a movie person yet but when it comes to science fiction my love increases so much but I will say, the movie could be much better.
