Can Money Buy Happiness?
9 February 2019 9:00PM: I finally got some time to work on my next blog post and after thinking for a while I decided to write up on money and it's relation with happiness. There are two popular quotes everyone probably heard of, first one is that money can buy happiness and the second one is opposite to that, money cannot buy happiness. Different people have different thoughts and opinions on the relation between the two and I am gonna share my views on this topic.
See it's not like that people who come in the poor class standards are not happy, I have seen a lot of happy people with their happy family being satisfied with what they have, then I have seen the same case with middle class families and then the upper or richer class families.
Every person living on this planet has their own needs and after needs comes the luxuries, the necessities are the first thing that is required so that the person can be satisfied and satisfaction brings happiness. Honestly speaking, according to me money can buy happiness. I come from a middle class family, my father was a civil engineer now running his own private company particularly based on construction. He had a pretty high salary when he had a job if you compare it with the average Indian person income but still because of all the loans and debts you know, it wasn't enough so he started his own company to get more money and clean off the debts and have more luxuries and satisfaction. Seriously increase in income will increase the satisfaction level in our family by lowering the debts bringing happiness. But then decades ago when we were having a low salary package we still were happy. I have read and known about a lot of people being so wealthy but they always go through problems, it could be financial problems (yes even after having money) and then comes the personal problems. There are some things you can't buy even after having a lot of money, like serious health problems or loss of life. But you can treat problems that can be cured which may cost a higher price. Some families have such a low income but they still enjoy a lot being with each other, at least getting food, shelter and clothes and happy with whatever they have. It's human nature of wanting more, which comes after the basic necessities but if a person learns to live with whatever they have, they can achieve long time happiness.
Money is something which rules the entire world, people kill of each other for it, do crimes and you know the bad things. Greediness can get evil. I can't just say that yes money can buy happiness or it can't because it depends on YOU. How you take happiness and how you relate it with money, I have seen this meme on facebook quite a few times saying "Yes money cannot buy happiness but it's better to cry in a Lamborghini than a Maruti Suzuki Alto" no offence to the brands lol. Yes money can buy you awesome expensive luxury clothes and other apparels. Money can get you amazing tasty food, money can help you travel the world, even where ever you want if you have the sufficient money. Money can give you a status in the society, money can help you sleep safe, money can help you prevent getting various sickness and diseases, money can help you get better education and insurances, money can do a lot of things and the things I have mentioned are the things most of the people living on this world seek for. Billionaires doing charities to help the poor are nothing but magic of our self made money system. For me, or my thoughts I will say yes money does buy happiness but there are some problems in life you cannot solve with money but then this is life and you just can't have a forever going happy life. The problems we go through, the obstacles and challenges that come and overcoming are what makes our life.
I guess I have already written a lot of on this topic but would like to add further more points. Happiness comes when our desires get full filled (mostly) and people always desire to have something more than they already have. This system we have built in our society of money is one very crucial part of it. The richer gets richer and the poorer get poorer, I hear this from people alot. Everyone runs for success and money but not everyone achieves it. I will say money is the reward of achieving it and with that reward we fullfill our desires achieving happiness. I know this blog post was mainly biased towards money bringing happiness but that's what I do here, share my own thoughts. You may have different thoughts and I will respect it! But yeah, our life is largely depended on money and how much we own of it.
