Watched The Shawshank Redemption & Joker - My Review
SPOILERS AS USUAL
I am kind of a movie streak this January, from Mr Robot season 4 (show I know), Forrest Gump and now finished Shawshank Redemption and Joker. I watched the Shawshank Redemption on 7th January and Joker yesterday (8 January). Both movies were masterpieces on their own.
Now I am feeling I should have reviewed as soon as I watched them because you know when it's a new day it's a different feeling and I was going to watch another movie but decided to review instead first. Forrest Gump and The Shawshank Redemption released same yea 1994 and considered are some best movies of all time, highly rated on imdb.
Talking about Shawshank, it was a different movie for me as I had never watched a movie based on Prison life before completely, this is another movie that is totally based on some amazing life lessons and simplicity. I liked the character of Andy so much, I mean he got cheated and then was accused of murdering her wife and her boyfriend when he didn't even kill them but was trapped in some way. He was a well known professional banker with so much wisdom which made me love him, then him going into the prison serving two life sentences and he met people, particularly Red who became his best friend. The more you watch the movie, the more you love these characters and everything portrayed felt so great. Sometimes I feel bad that now I am discovering these amazing work of arts, I think it's a good way to start this great decade and 2020 and I have a lot of expectations with it. At first you feel Andy isn't planning to escape from the prison but later you see how it was planned from the start, the way he got rid of his enemies was amazing to see and the way he got attention of the guards and especially the Warden and other people around the Prison. He was doing banking stuff from them lol.
Overall this movie was a perfection, 10/10.
Now Joker, it was released last year and it was so much praised and became the highest earning R rated movie of all time. So many memes were made on it and other internet stuff that made it more popular. I always felt weirdy that I didn't watch it last year but did it now. I was actually going to watch Pulp Fiction yesterday but it wasn't streaming so I decided to watch Joker instead and it was one of the best movies I have seen, damn there are a lot of them now haha. The character development of Arthur was so amazing and you could literally feel his life and how sad and depressing it was. I could relate to it on some levels and I know a lot of people could relate to the character. I wasn't really a fan of Joker or DC universe before, I am a Marvel fanboy. But this movie is changing my mind. I saw Thomas Wayne, Martha Wayne and of course Bruce Wayne too and how his mother and father actually died. The movie was really dark, darker than the Dark Knight. This movie made me get to know about these DC characters more and particularly Joker and the Batman. I think I may become a DC fanboy in the 2020 soon and start loving Batman maybe, I always thought he is overrated because as I said, a marvel fanboy I am. I don't even know that much about him.
Joaquin Phoenix did a brilliant job in acting and portraying the character of Arthur and Joker, it was a breathe taking experience.
I am so happy I am seeing all these amazing movies and shows in my life, it's so great experiencing the other worlds and characters. It inspires me to a lot of levels, it changes me bit by bit.
Time to watch another movie, lol.
